Shadowlands Conduit Update
Blizzard posted an update in a blue post explaining how Conduits will work in Shadowlands and updates they are making to the system. This clarification follows weeks of questions revolving around how the final system will work in Shadowlands.
Conduit Item Levels
Conduits will have item levels in Shadowlands. In the Shadowlands Beta, iLvl 171 Conduits will drop from Heroic dungeons and iLvl 200 will drop in Normal Castle Nathria. Based on the blue post, Conduit iLvl drops will match the regular gear iLvl that drops from that source. The blue post also notes that upgrading your Conduit iLvl will a noticeable upgrade just like making any other gear iLvl upgrade.
Conduit Loot Drops
Conduits will be personal loot drops. The same conduits will drop for all specs in a class, so a Protection Warrior and a Fury Warrior can get the same conduit drop from a boss. Conduits will also be considered an additive loot drop. They will not replace the loot that would normally drop from a boss, so you could end up with both a piece of gear and a Conduit dropping from the same boss.
Conduit Sources
Blizzard also confirmed in the blue post that the same Conduit will be available from multiple sources so you have more than one way of targeting the Conduit you’re after for your build. Conduits will also be available from Callings and from Ve’nari in the Maw.
Stygia Being Removed From Twisting Corridors
The blue post also noted that they were in the process of removing Stygia as a repeatable reward from Twisting Corridors. The goal is for there to be a limit on the amount of Stygia you can obtain, likely so it doesn’t turn into an endless grind like Azerite was with Island Expeditions.
As more information on the Conduit and Soulbind system comes out, we’ll be sure to keep you updated!
We’ve recently seen a number of questions about how Conduits work in Shadowlands. Here’s a brief explainer:
Conduits are items, and they have item levels like other loot you’ll see in Shadowlands. Currently in the Beta, Heroic dungeon loot is item level 171 and Normal difficulty Castle Nathria is dropping iLvl 200 gear. Like other loot, the higher the Conduit’s item level, the more powerful its effect.
Conduits can come from many sources, including dungeon bosses, raid bosses, the PvP vendor, and World Quests and content (via Callings). Conduits go into a collection, making it unnecessary to repeatedly earn individual Conduits at a given item level.
Conduits drop as personal loot and are class-based, so they don’t differ based on your active spec or your loot spec. They’re also additive with other loot drops – a Conduit won’t replace an item that a boss might otherwise have dropped. Conduits are not tradeable.
Our goal is to offer one or more ways of targeting the specific Conduits that you might want ( such as PvP vendors and loot drops), in addition to those available via Callings and a catch-all Conduit sold by Ve’nari in the Maw.
- Specific to Ve’nari, we’re in the process of removing Stygia as a repeatable reward from Twisting Corridors. Our goal here is for the Eye of the Jailer in the Maw to be a limiting factor on Stygia gains.
As with other items, you can experience big upgrades when replacing Conduits. If you have an iLvl 171 version of a Conduit, and you obtain an iLvl 213 version of that Conduit from a Mythic Keystone dungeon, you’ll take it to the Forge of Bonds and enjoy your nice upgrade.
